Making a movie look authentic means using the correct prop and wardrobe memorabilia which consists of original movie props, movie costumes, set pieces and the right Movie Make Up created exclusively for entertainment purposes, and for specific uses in movies.  Due to production requirements, there may be multiple versions produced of any given item, or prop,  in a movie, television show or other media.   These slightly different versions are worn for different scenes filmed at different times. One version might need to look perfect and to be clean, another might need to look ripped up and even one custom created with fake blood stains all over it.  When a stage or TV production is planned an all out search is made to find all of the most authentic props and wardrobe needs that are needed for the production.  In many cases some of these needs cannot be met and the props have to be specially made for the show.  If at all possible, the props will be rented from a large ‘wardrobe or prop’ supply house and then returned at the end of the show.  Everything from knives or guns to shirts and pants and just about everything else that is needed will be either rented or bought or made for the show.  Even the pictures that hang on a wall in a bedroom, or in an office that is part of a scene will be specially approved as being authentic for that scene and time.  This is a very highly specialized part of the production and the people who handle all of this are highly paid.
