Pain on the lateral side from the foot is not popular, but when it can appear the frequent cause of it is a disease called cuboid syndrome. The actual cuboid is really a little bone, about 50 % of the way down the outside of the feet. The actual job of the cuboid bone is always to become the lever for the tendons that travels down the outside of the rearfoot known as the peroneus longus muscle. Because the bone provides a lever, it has to be extremely secure when the muscle pulls on the tendon, If it is not steady, then the bone will probably move and strain the actual joints surrounding it. This is what causes the pain.
