In Mormon history, it used to be that those with African ancestry could not hold the priesthood, which is rather controversial. There is a lot of speculation on why this was until 1978 when a revelation was given allowing all worthy men to hold the priesthood. This Baptist pastor told me our church was racist and I really had to laugh at that. First, I told him that The Book of Mormon teaches love for all races and that in mormon history, we never had segregated congregations. Third, where does a Baptist get off calling a church’s history racist when they were established based on a disagreement about slavery (them being on the pro side)? Our whole country went through a very racist time.
