I was adamant about getting a four wheel drive from the car hire auckland airport place so that we wouldn’t have any problems with getting up and down the mountain. Last time I made the mistake of only getting a regular two wheel drive and that was definitely not a good call to make. I had a look at the website fo the company we deal with and they had some really nice 4WD’s so I booked one of those. Not only is it good for traction and everything but there is so much more room for all the gear which makes things a whole lot easier for everyone, and we can fit ski racks to it easier.
